 About Our Council
St. Francis of Assisi Council was chartered on June 10th, 1999 through the efforts of Msgr. Duesman, Charlie Walter, Bob Buchheit and Larry Volz and is named after our local Church. The St. Francis of Assisi Council works closely with the St. Francis Parish, members being active participants in their Parish, Frisco community ...providing funds and labor for various projects.
We have accomplished a lot, since our inception and have been recognized by State and Supreme with various awards.  The quality of our council is reflected in our Hall of Fame and through our Ring of Honor.

A Ladies Auxiliary was formed in the Summer of 2001, to join with us in our volunteer efforts.  You can click here to go to their home page.

Grand Knight's Message - June 2010

Past GK Messages

Hello Brothers,

I attended the 10:00 am Mass a few weeks ago, at which Fr. Vincent gave the Homily.
Basically he said that it is our obligation, as good stewards, to use whatever talent(s) that God has blessed us with, in the service of others!

Stewardship, in general, will be the focus of the Parish in August ...however, I would like to bring the premise of that message up to June.

In the Fraternal Year, June is a time for a changing of the guard (sort of speaking) ...new Officers will be elected and Chair positions are being vacated.

I have long said that everyone has a skill or talent that can be used (at whatever level and for whatever time they can) in the service of our Council and the things we support!
It's not to late to voice your interest in being an Officer, however the focus of this email is more on open Committee and Event Chairs.

I have started trying to fill various Committee/Event Chairs and the first reply I get, is "I don't have the skill or experience or time".

I understand not everyone has the skill or the disposition to handle a big project ...however, you "ALL" can certainly make it much easier by providing the skill you have &/or time in a smaller capacity!

Two examples:
If you are good with numbers ...we can use your skill to keep a project or event budget, track receipts, etc.
If you have good people skills ...we can use your skill to recruit & coordinate volunteers.
We have a small but experienced core set of members, who are happy and "waiting" to mentor new brothers ...that is one of the great things about our Council.

For the successful future of our Council, we need to continue to have brothers who develop skills & gain experience ...but that is not going to happen by watching from the side-lines!
Please speak up and volunteer to Chair a vacancy ...&/or help in at least three events this coming year (after-all I believe the desire to help is why most of you joined!)

Sometimes we must stretch our comfort zone (a little) to grow and gain experience.

God Bless.

I look forward to seeing all of our brothers at our next Council Meeting.

Fraternally Yours,

H. Mauricio Frye
