Advocate’s Corner
It is important that all brother Knights remember:
The KC list is for KC business. Use it for its intended business purpose,
within our ranks. Discussions during meetings are not for public
distribution. Our governing bylaws are specific in this matter and state
Misconduct is: “…Revealing Work, Etc.
1. Revealing to a person not a member of the Order any of the work,
business or doings of his council or the Order…”
Violations are serious business and we all must be conscience of the consequences.

Joke for the Newsletter
A rich lady from California, who was a tree hugger and a vociferous anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland in Oregon. There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted to get a good view of her land so she started to climb the big tree.
As she neared the top, she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her. In her
haste to
escape, the lady slid down the tree to
the ground and got many splinters in her private parts. In considerable
pain, she hurried to the nearest country
doctor.
Being a hunter himself, the doctor listened to
her story with great patience and then told her to go into the examining room
and he would see if he could help her.
She sat and waited for three hours before the doctor reappeared. The angry lady demanded, "What took you so long?"
He smiled and then told her, "Well, I had to get permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old growth timber from a recreational area and I'm sorry, they all turned me down.”

As the fraternal year draws to a close I want to thank each of you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your Grand Knight for the past two years. The past two years have seen our council grow and with that growth has come challenges. Just as our nation faced some of its most dramatic challenges head on, so did we, and for that both our nation and our council is stronger.
As I pause and reflect on the past two years I am proud of the way our council has responded to the various issues that have presented themselves to us. There are some things that we still have to accomplish and I know that with everyone pulling together we will.
This past year my family lost a very close friend to a drunk driver. Garry was 45 years old and our friendship is one that I will always cherish. Thanks Garry.
It is also at these times that we usually take stock of our own lives and try to fill the ledger on the correct side of the equation. Am I living my life as God wants? Is there more I could or should do?
As many of you know, my travel schedule has been quite hectic over the past 12 months. It is with the overwhelming support of all the Knights and my family that I have been able to balance everything. My thanks to every Knight out there who took my call, answered my e-mail, assisted at a function, or took on a project the past two years.
I also want to add a personal thanks to my family: Teri, Michael, and Jason, who with their support all became possible.
William James said, “The great use of a life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.”
Our work as Knights is one thing that we can all be proud of and cherish, knowing that each deed we perform outlasts us. Thank you for allowing me to get the right balance.
Remember to keep a proper balance and may our deeds outlast each of us.
Fraternally yours,
