--The
Knights of Columbus has established a $1 million "Knights of
Columbus Heroes Fund" for families of all full-time professional
law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who have
lost their lives or may yet lose their lives in the rescue and recovery
efforts under way at the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The fund was
announced by Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson in a news conference
Thursday, Sept. 13. Affected families will each receive $3,000 from the
Knights of Columbus in recognition of the ultimate sacrifice made by
their loved ones.

The
Good of the order
At the August 23rd General
membership meeting our lecturer, Chuck Haas, shared some exciting
stories from his Secret Service days.
He told us he has some other presentations in the works.
Maybe even a visit from some WWF wrestlers.

Family of the Month

Carl
and Laura hosted a family pool party at their house on September 1st.
Carl is heading up our Golf Tournament, and helping with Passbook
sales. Laura is a member of
the Ladies Auxiliary. Thank
you Carl and Laura for helping all of us gather to relax amongst family
and friends.

Accepted my request to be our worthy Lecturer, and his first
presentation was GREAT! Chuck
also has assisted in Pass Book sales and is always lending a hand in all
that we do.
Joke
of the Month
There was this old priest who got sick of
all the people in his parish who kept confessing to adultery. One Sunday,
in the pulpit, he said, "If I hear one more person confess to
adultery, “I'll quit!" Well, everyone liked him, so they
came up with a code word.
Someone who had committed adultery
would say they had "fallen".
This seemed to satisfy the old priest and things went well,
until he died at a ripe old age. About a week after the new priest
arrived, he visited the Mayor of the town and seemed very
concerned.
The priest said, "You have to do something about the sidewalks
in town. When people come into the confessional, they keep talking
about having fallen."
The Mayor started to laugh, realizing that no one had told the new
priest about the code word.
Before
the mayor could explain, the priest shook an accusing finger at him and
said, "I don't know what you're laughing about. Your wife fell
three times this week."

AUXILIARY CORNER
A huge thank you goes out
to Kelly and Jason Church for a great job with the September social.
Good food! Great company! What a nice evening for all of us.
The next social is planned for December 7th. Mark your calendar
and join us.
The ladies are getting things ready for the basket raffle. If you
would like to help or need more info about this project please contact
Amanda Lloyd or June Taylor.
A calendar of events for the Ladies Auxiliary was e-mailed to everyone
if you did not get it please let me know and I will get one to you.
Our next meeting is October 3rd, 7:00pm at Vicki Kristoff's
home. Board meeting at
6:30pm. We need you and your ideas so please join us.

Grand Knight’s Corner
As
you read this note we are wrapping up the first quarter of fraternal
year 2001-2002. My how time
passes quickly. Passbook
sales have gone great and out of 200 books we only have a few left.
Our Squires group is about to get off the ground under the fine
leadership of Sean McCarthy. I
know he would like your help, give him a call. At our September General
membership meeting the 27th, we will be helping Msgr. Duesman
get the Homecoming Float ready. Come
ready to lend a hand.
We
are all saddened by the events of September 11th and I hope
you and your family find comfort in your faith, prayers and seeing how
our nation and your order responds in moments of crisis.
