Quote for the Month

“Great men are like meteors; they consume themselves and light the world”

 Napoleon Bonaparte

 Did you know?

---Missing a General membership meeting could cost you $25.00 in cash?

Beginning with the August 23rd General membership meeting, a $25.00 raffle will be held for all members that are in good standing.  The catch is, you must be present to win.  If we have no winner, then the $25.00 will carry forward to be added to the next month’s General membership meeting drawing.  Can you say $50.00, $75.00…?

--Your council is planning a social for every quarter during the fraternal calendar?

Every quarter we will hold a social with the newly formed Ladies Auxiliary to promote fellowship.  Some events will be for couples, others for the entire family.  The first is September 15th.  Mark your calendars now!

--You belong to an organization that gave 116.1 million dollars to charity, and 56.7 million volunteer hours during the year 2000.  Both are records for your organization and both would not have been possible without your contributions.

The Good of the order

At the August 23rd General membership meeting our lecturer, Chuck Haas, will share some exciting stories from his Secret Service days.  He tells me he has domestic and foreign stories, but will not be able to share the names, as he has to protect the innocent, or was that the guilty?

July Family of the Month

Sean and Elizabeth McCarthy

Elizabeth is a faith formation teacher and active in the ladies Auxiliary.   Sean is our youth Director and has been instrumental in getting the frame work for our Squires organization.

Just a few weeks ago, I happened to see Sean, Elizabeth and their children having lunch, and I thought how lucky we all were to have them and their untiring dedication in our organization.

July Knight of the Month

Mauricio Frye

Mauricio is our Two Year Trustee, but serves our council in many ways.  He is our Fourth Degree Liason, our Pass Book sales Chairperson, Web-Master, and much, much more.  He is a resource that we all depend on, to listen, offer advice, or coach anyone to the right decision.  Mauricio always focuses on the best interests of the council…thanks, Mauricio, for always being there for us!

Joke of the Month

There's a fellow who is an avid golfer; actually he's a golf fanatic.  Every Saturday   morning he has an early tee time, gets up very early and golf’s all day long.

Well, this one Saturday morning, he gets up early, dresses quietly, gets his clubs out of the closet, and goes out to his car to drive to the course. It is raining a torrential downpour. There is snow mixed with the rain and the wind is blowing 50 mph.
He comes back into the house and turns the TV to the weather channel.  From there he finds it's going to be bad weather all day long.  He puts his clubs back into the closet, quietly undresses and slips back into bed where he cuddles up to his wife's back, and whispers, "The weather out there is terrible."

To which she replies, "Can you believe my stupid husband is out there golfing"

Grand Knight’s Corner

Fraternal year 2001-2002 has gotten off to a fast start.  Passbook sales, pancake breakfast, membership drives, and a Ladies Auxiliary, are all moving at a feverish pace.  The one thing we may be missing is you.  When was the last time you attended a meeting?  What was the last event you assisted your council in?  No one has time for everything.  My challenge to each of you is to look over the events we have planned for the coming year.  Pick the one or two that interest you, then commit to give that one or two items your all.  Just think, 70 plus members making a difference for their council, church, community, family, parish, and the youth.

Fraternally yours,
Mark B. Henry
