The Grand Knight’s Corner

Cooler weather has finally arrived (now if some decent rain would fall)! After such a long period of hot weather, you can sense everyone’s attitudes pick up with the cool front. It has reenergized our spirits as well as our physical well-being.

Sometimes that sluggishness occurs in our businesses and other activities…such as the Knights. With the last fraternal year ending June 30, the start of summer vacations, etc. it takes some time to reenergize for the new fraternal year…I know (as evidenced by this “first” newsletter in September) I felt it, too. But, the “energy” is back and a renewed commitment has surfaced. To get that feeling back, might I suggest getting involved in our council’s activities…the good works produced from these activities are the “cool front” that energizes the spirit!!

July Family of the Month

Paul and Vicki Kristoff       

Our council is blessed to have many K of C families active also in our parish. Paul and Vicki are one of those families that do many wonderful acts of charity on behalf of our parish. They include such activities as the Outreach program, Adopt-a-Street, Kids Eat Free program, etc. Thank you Paul and Vicki for your commitment to our church and community!!!

July Knight of the Month

Al Telese

Al is very active in our church (Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer, Usher…). He has also taken on special projects which has included the groundbreaking ceremony for our new multipurpose building. This has been in the planning stages for quite awhile and has been organized under Al’s direction. Thanks for doing a great job on this special project, Al!!!

August Family of the Month

Matt and Mary Ellen Lafata 

The Lafata’s hosted our council’s first ever pool party! Matt is the Family Committee chairman and has planned some wonderful activities for our families this fraternal year. Thanks Matt and Mary Ellen for a great start!!!

August Knight of the Month

Mark Henry

Our Deputy Grand Knight has provided sound leadership…his sound reasoning and logic has provided the necessary direction to issues confronted by our council. In addition, he has continuously been a participant in the Adopt-a-Street program, including the month of August. Mark, thanks for your guidance and participation that helps make our council a super one!!!

September Family of the Month

Lawrence and Dawn Overbeck

The Overbeck’s are new to our council…and speaking of new, they recently were blessed with a new born! Even with those additional responsibilities, there was Lawrence providing much needed support during the groundbreaking ceremony! He provide tools, materials and the labor to help make the event be a success!! Dawn, thanks for letting us borrow your husband…Lawrence thanks for your great assistance…and congratulations on your new addition!!!

September Knight of the Month

Mauricio Frye

Mauricio is one very busy Knight!!! Besides providing leadership to our council activities as our Program Director, he is continuously involved in church, council and community activities. They would include…usher, Passbooks coordinator and salesman, homecoming parade float, chief cook and bottle washer at the concession stands for Frisco HS football games, etc., etc., etc.!!! Thanks Mauricio for taking an interest and making a difference in our church, council and community!!!
